Areas of Focus
Queer and Trans communities
Rebecca’s queer activism has spanned the last decade, including involvement in Nova Scotia’s provincial LGBTQIA2S+ advocacy group and as a founding member of the Halifax Dyke and Trans March. Much of her writing focuses on Queer and Trans people, community, and history.
Feminism
Rebecca is an outspoken feminist and brings that analysis to all of her projects. Rebecca has written about misogyny and rape culture for various publications, wrote an online course for the Nova Scotia Sexual Violence Strategy, and was the inaugural coordinator for a Halifax-based sexual assault and harassment phoneline.
Social Movements & Non Profits
Fifteen years of experience as a student organizer, union and non-profit staff person, and community organizer has given Rebecca an intimate knowledge of various social movements as well as the inner workings of non-profits, post-secondary institutions, and governments.
